LATROBE, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's cross country team placed 7th of 11 teams Saturday at the St. Vincent Invitational 8K. The Pioneers were without two of their top runners, which hurt their placement in the team standings.
Eric Engel, sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., led the Point Park team with a time of 30:34 to finish in 38th place. It was the first time in his career that he led the Pioneers in a meet.
Zane Kravec (31:14) was the next finisher for Point Park followed by Ian McIntosh (32:31) and Luke Shannon (32:40).
Point Park was without junior Connor Mulvaney, who was the top performer for the Pioneers in the season opener last week, and senior Jon Rohlf. Both runners were kept out by coach Jim Irvin to rest nagging injuries. The wet conditions were also a reason to keep them out and not risk further injury, Irvin said.
Point Park hopes to be back at full strength when it competes at Chatham next Saturday, Sept. 28. Follow the Pioneers on Twitter @PointParkSports
