Point Park Cross Country & Track signee Connor Wright of Zanesville, Ohio

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University men's cross country and track and field will welcome Connor Wright of Zanesville, Ohio, and Maysville High School as a freshman for the upcoming 2015-16 year.
"Connor Wright is an exciting recruit," said Pioneers track & field and cross country head coach Kelly Parsley. "He continues to improve every race. He is going to be a solid running in both cross country and track and field. Connor will be a huge contributor in the success of both teams."
Wright qualified for the state championships many times during his track and cross country career at Maysville. He was most successful in the 1,600 meters, an event that he finished 15th in Ohio at the outdoor state championship meet as a senior.
Wright had a personal-best time of 4:25 in the 1,600 while in high school. He was the runner-up in the regional meet his senior year and was also the distict champion in the event. Wright's best time in the 3,200 meters is 9:28, and he also holds a district championship in that race.
In indoor track, Wright is a two-time state qualifier in the 1,600 meters. He finished 11th at the indoor state meet in 2015 (4:32) and ninth at the indoor state meet in 2014 (4:35).
Wright qualified for the state championship meet during his junior year of cross country when he finished 13th at regionals. The following year, he was just missed the state meet in 17th at regionals. His career-best time in the 5K for cross country was 16:10.
