Point Park University Men's Basketball Professional Update: 2013-14 Season

PITTSBURGH -- Three former Point Park University men's basketball players are playing professional basketball overseas, and they all recently finished up their 2013-14 seasons earlier this summer. Below is a recap of this past season for former Pioneers Kris Douse (2010-11), Nick Brown (2013-14) and Tony Townsend (2007-09).

KRIS DOUSE -- 20.1 PPG, 12.6 RPG, 59% FGs at Point Park (2010-11)

EVL Limburg (Germany) - Regionalliga Bosman Player of the Year

Kris Douse, a 6-7 forward from Toronto, played for EVL Limburg of the Regionalliga in Germany this past season. Douse's third year as a professional basketball player saw him named Bosman Player of the Year in the league after averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds per game. Douse was also named First Team all-league by Eurobasket.com.

Douse played his senior year of 2010-11 at Point Park and averaged 20.1 ppg and 12.6 rpg while shooting 59 percent from the field. He led the nation in rebounding and was tied for second nationally with 19 double-doubles in 27 games. He was named All-AMC First Team and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. He scored a career-high 45 points versus Mt. Vernon Nazarene to tie the Point Park single-game record for points.

Before coming to Point Park, Douse signed with Nebraska out of IMG Academy. He played one year at Nebraska and two years at Delaware State. In his three years as a pro basketball player, he has played for teams in Germany, England, Iceland and the Czech Republic.

NICK BROWN -- 19.2 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 73 3PT FGs at Point Park (2013-14)

Amistad Blacmar (Bolivia) -- Bolivia Basketball Federation

Nick Brown, a 6-7 forward from Bristolville, Ohio, played his first season of professional basketball with Amistad Blacmar in Sucre, Bolivia, in 2013-14. Brown averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Amistad Blacmar, and he helped them to the finals of the Bolivia Basketball Federation (FBB).

Brown upped his game in the playoffs to average 28.0 ppg for Amistad in the postseason. His season and career high was 45 points. After his success with Amistad Blacmar, he is currently pursuing professional opportunities in Germany this coming season.

Brown averaged 19.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg during his senior season of 2013-14 at Point Park. He made 73 3-point field goals and shot 42 percent from the field and 35 percent from long range. Brown led the KIAC in double-doubles with 13. He played his first three years of college basketball at West Liberty University, which had been ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II.



TONY TOWNSEND -- 14.3 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 46% FGs at Point Park (2007-09)

Etefaq Club (Oman) -- Ministry Cup

Tony Townsend, a 6-6 guard from Canton, Ohio, played this past year for Etefaq in Muscat, Oman. There he averaged 22.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as the top shooting guard in the league. He was fourth in the league in scoring. Etefaq competes in the Ministry Cup league.

During his well-traveled pro career, Townsend has played for teams in Germany, Lebanon, Jordan, the Dominican Republic and Oman. He played in the Malaysian Summer League earlier this summer. He is now currently playing in China with the hopes to land a spot in the CBA back in the states if he does well.

Townsend played two years at Point Park from 2007-09. His best year came as a senior when he averaged 14.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg and shot 46 percent from the floor to garner All-AMC Second Team honors. He led the AMC with 12 double-doubles. In his two years with the Pioneers, he amassed 586 points (11.5 ppg) and 386 rebounds (7.2 rpg) in 51 games.
