McNeal's big week of scoring gets him KIAC Player of the Week honors

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior guard Gabe McNeal had a big week of scoring Nov. 18-24, and on Monday (Nov. 25) he was named KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
McNeal, a 6-2 guard from Richmond, Va., averaged 25.2 points per game last week including a career-high 38 points Nov. 23 at Indiana Kokomo. McNeal scored an impressive total of 101 points in the four games and also added 6.3 rebounds per game and 52-percent shooting from the field.
McNeal's 38 points at Indiana Kokomo came on 14 of 22 from the floor and 3 of 6 from long range. It was just seven off of tying the Point Park, single-game scoring record of 45, and it is tied for the eighth-highest total in NAIA Division II men's basketall this year.
He also had 29 points and eight rebounds at NCAA Division II West Liberty (W.Va.) and 21 points and nine rebounds versus Penn State-Fayette. McNeal, who transferred last year from NCAA DII Shaw (N.C.), added 13 points and five rebounds versus Centre (Ky.).
For the year, McNeal is averaging a team-high 22.5 ppg for Point Park (5-5, 1-1 KIAC). McNeal is third in NAIA Division II in total scoring with 225 points through 10 games, and he is 17th in the country in scoring average. He is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game and shooting 49 percent from the field.
