Golf schedule has six events for spring season

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University men's golf schedule includes six events, culminating with the American Mideast Conference Tournament April 29-30. The Pioneers begin the spring slate March 29 at the Westminster Spring Invitational. Other tournaments are at Carnegie Mellon, Thiel, Grove City and Notre Dame (OH). The Pioneers played four fall events.

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University men's golf head coach Gabe Bubon (center) announced that transfers Alex Richert (right) and Nick Wukich (left) joined the Pioneers at the start of the spring semester. Both are sophomores who will be eligible right away.

Pioneers finish fall schedule at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's golf team finished its fall schedule at the Grove City Invitational Wednesday. Freshman Austin Elder finished in a tie for ninth to record his third top-10 placement in four events.

PITTSBURGH -- Quicksilver Golf Club is the home course for the Point Park University golf teams. Quicksilver is rated by Golf Digest as a four-star course and it has been named the top public course by the Post-Gazette six times.

Point Park reinstates golf team in fall of 2009

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park Director of Athletics Dan Swalga was pleased to announce Monday that Point Park will be adding a men's and women's golf team in the fall. The Pioneers had a brief history of men's golf from 1966-72, and they will have women's golf team for a first time.

PITTSBURGH -- Gabe Bubon was named the head coach of Point Park men's and women's golf on Monday. Bubon, who is also an assistant men's basketball coach for the Pioneers, is excited to get the golf programs going.
