GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's golf team took home its third tournament title of the year by winning the Grove City College MBA Invitational held Monday at Grove City Country Club. The Pioneers turned in a team score of 312 to win by five strokes over second place Westminster.

The Pioneers had four players place in the top six spot led by sophomore James Daley, a freshman from Youngstown, Ohio, who came in second with a 4-over 76. Daley finished four strokes back of medalist Dave Mlinarch of Westminster, who shot even-par 72 to out-distance the field.

Alex Bernardini, a sophomore from Mexico, tied for fourth with a 78 while Austin Elder and Chris Bowen were in a six-way tie for sixth at 79.

Point Park bested a field of six teams, which included NCAA Division II Mercyhurst and AMC rival Notre Dame (OH). Grove City placed third at 320 followed by Mercyhurst (328), Notre Dame (341) and Bethany (349).

Point Park will now take on its main challenge of the season when it travels to the American Mideast Conference tournament later this week. The event is being held at Apple Valley Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. After a practice round Wednesday, the tournament gets underway Thursday and Friday with 27 holes each day. The winner advances to the NAIA national tournament.
