Point Park men's golf stands 4th of 7 teams after first round of RMU Colonial Classic

HOPEWELL TWP., Pa. -- The Point Park University men's golf team is in fourth place of seven teams after Monday's first round of the Robert Morris University Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 316, which is their second-highest score so far this year, but it was still good enough to stay ahead of NCAA Division I schools Wagner (319) and Maryland Eastern Shore (344) as well as RMU's second team (321).
Host Robert Morris leads the field at 294 followed by Mount Saint Mary's (299) and Clarion (308). The tournament is being held at The Club at Shadow Lakes, and the final round will be played there Tuesday. It is a par-72, 6,570-yard layout.
Austin Elder shot a 2-over 74 for Point Park on Monday. Elder is tied for sixth place individually, four shots behind leaders Ross Pringle of Clarion and Bo Lustig of Robert Morris.
Chris Bowen shot a solid 76 and is in 11th place after 18 holes. Alejandro Bernardini is tied for 21st after an 80. James Daley (86) and Steve Veydt (87) also competed for the Pioneers.
