Point Park's B Team places 4th of 9 teams at Westminster tournament

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Point Park men's golf entered its B Team in the Westminster Autumn Classic Monday and came away placing 4th of 9 teams.
Point Park's Steve Veydt, a sophomore from Cecil, Pa., finished tied for fifth individually as his score of 79 was just two off the winning total.
On a cold and rainy day at New Castle Country Club, the medalist was Brian Clause of Pitt-Greenburg, who fired a 5-over 77. Veydt, who transferred from Spring Arbor (Mich.) University this year, was one of eight players in the 52-man field to break 80.
Point Park shot a team score of 336, which was 13 strokes behind team champion Grove City (323). Mt. Aloyisius (324) and Westminster (327) also placed ahead of the Point Park B Team.
Billy Wivell, a junior from Deer Lakes, Pa., who transferred from CCAC-South, placed 9th with a score of 80. Shane Killeen, from Mt. Lebanon, Pa., turned in an 85 and placed tied for 26th.
Also competing for Point Park were Brandon Moon (92) and Jerry Ferrell (101).
Point Park's A Team was scheduled to compete in the California (Pa.) Invitational Sunday and Monday, but that event was rained out and rescheduled for Oct. 22-23.
