Point Park men's golf wraps up fall season with 2nd place at W&J tournament

CANONSBURG, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season by placing second of six teams at the Peter C. Rossin Memorial hosted by Washington & Jefferson College Sunday and Monday at Southpointe Golf Club.
The Pioneers cut nine strokes off their score from the first round to shoot a final-round team score of 311 on Monday. That put three Point Park players in the Top 10 individually led by senior Eric Poplowski and freshman Max Kaminsky tying for fourth.
Poplowski and Kaminsky both shot 11-over 155 over 36 holes. That was five shots off the medalist honors shared by W&J's Owen Miller and Patrick Jonnet at 6-over 150. Poplowski was the first-round leader with a 73 and shot 82 in the final round. Kaminsky's final-round 74 rebounded from an 81 on the first day.
Point Park's Diego Ortiz shot a strong round of 73 on Monday to earn a place in the Top 10 at seventh overall. He opened up with an 83 on Sunday. Teammate Ben Kennedy shot rounds of 83-82 to place 15th for the tournament.
Point Park entered a B team into the event, and it placed sixth. Michael Popovec (85-81) tied for 17th to lead the second team. Noah Zamgias (97-77), Alex Reynolds (89-94) and Brandon Moon (100-106) also competed.
Washington & Jefferson was the team champion by 18 shots with rounds of 309-303. Penn State-Harrisburg (326-316) was third followed by (336-326) in fourth.
