Point Park men's golf takes 2nd place at CMU Fall Invite at Longue Vue

VERONA, Pa. -- Point Park University men's golf finished second of five teams at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Wednesday (Oct. 7) at The Longue Vue Club.
The Pioneers placed three players in the Top 10 led by seniors Eric Poplowski and Ben Kennedy each shooting 79 to place in the tie for seventh. Junior Alex Reynolds tied for ninth with an 81.
Point Park had a team score of 326, which was filled out by Diego Ortiz and Max Kaminsky each shooting 87. That was the same team score as Grove City, but Point Park won the tiebreaker for out-right second place based on the score of its fifth player.
Host team Carnegie Mellon shot 309 to win the team title by 17 strokes. Grove City's Jordan Alfrey won medalist honors with a 75. Jake Reed shot 76 to place second and lead St. Vincent to fourth place at 336. Thiel placed fifth at 342.
Carnegie Mellon's team title was built on three players tying for third place individually as George Qian, Cameron Low and Justin Fischler all shot 77.
Point Park's final fall tournament is Oct. 12-13 at the Washington & Jefferson tournament held at Southpointe Golf Club.
