Point Park hosted the event at its home course, and the Pioneers turned in a team score of 385, which was three shots better than CCAC-South at 388.

Monday’s match was the first event hosted by the Point Park men’s team since the program was reinstated last summer. The school hosted the Pioneer Invitational four times in its history but not since the program was discontinued in the early 1970s.

Point Park’s Alex Richert (Shaler/North Catholic) took medalist honors with an 82, which was nine shots better than the nearest competitor on the par-72, 7,038-yard track. Richert had 40 on the front and 42 on the back.

Nick Wukich (Sewickley/Quaker Valley) shot a 91 for the Pioneers, and he tied with CCAC-South’s top performer Evan Slater (49-42-91). Wukich went out in 47 and came in at 44.

Point Park’s Nick Fearby (Medina, N.Y./Medina) turned in a card of 50-48-98 while Jeff Allen and Josh Frketic shot 114 and 119, respectively.

Darin Kowalski (North Huntingdon/Serra Catholic) and Austin Elder (Warren, Ohio/Howland) lead Point Park in scoring average at a 72.8 and 78.0, respectively, but they did not compete Monday.

Point Park returns to action next Monday at the Grove City MBA Invitational at Grove City Country Club. The Pioneers’ season culminates with the American Mideast Conference tournament April 29-30 at Apple Valley Golf Club in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
