PITTSBURGH – Point Park University men’s golf head coach Gabe Bubon announced that Mercer, Pa., native Brandon Moon has committed to the school and will be a freshman for the Pioneers in the fall of 2011.
Moon was a four-year member of the Mercer High School golf team, where he was the No.2 or 3 man during his career. Moon’s time at Mercer was highlighted by an appearance in the District 10 tournament. His scoring average over nine holes was approximately 40.
“We are excited about having Brandon Moon on the team,” said Bubon, who completed his second year as head coach. “He is very excited to be here, as well, and I like that enthusiasm. He is a great addition to the program, and I look forward to seeing what he can do as he enters college golf.”
The Point Park men’s golf program just completed its second season after being reinstated in the summer of 2009. Point Park, which finished third at the American Mideast Conference tournament this year, had not sponsored golf since 1972.
