PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior Steve Veydt, from Cecil, Pa., has been named the KIAC Men's Golfer of the Week March 31-April 6, the conference announced on Monday.

Veydt, a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, was the medalist at the Berea (Ky.) College Spring Tee-off this past weekend at Battlefield Golf Club in Richmond, Ky. Veydt led Point Park to the team championship with rounds of 76 and 68 for a four-shot victory over teammate James Daley.

The 76 in the first round came on a tough scoring day that included 35-mph winds and rain. His final-round 68 was a career-best score over 18 holes, and it gave Veydt the win in a field of 42 players.

Veydt and the Pioneers retun to action this weekend, April 11-12 at the Malone (Ohio) Spring Classic for 36 holes at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, Ohio.
