Point Park in 8th place after 1st Rd. at Lake Erie Invite

MADISON, Ohio -- The Point Park University men's golf team is 8th of 13 teams after the first round of the Lake Erie College Spring Invitational held Saturday at Madison Country Club. On a wet and windy day in which only 23 of the 78 players broke 80, Point Park carded a team score of 318.
The Pioneers are 15 shots off the lead held by Findlay (303). Wayne State (305) is in second place followed by Saginaw Valley State (311). Final round play in scheduled for Sunday.
Austin Elder (left) paced Point Park with a 4-over 75, which puts him in a tie for eighth and three shots back of the lead. No players shot under par, and the individual leader is Matt Jones (72) of Finday.
Elder was the only Point Park player able to break 80. Alejandro Bernardini (80), Chris Bowen (81), James Daley (83) and Chris Cichra (87) also competed for the Pioneers.
