Point Park men's golf T5th of 17 teams after Rd 1 at Allegheny Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's golf team is tied for fifth place of 17 teams after Sunday's first round of the Guy W. Kuhn Allegheny College Invitational. The Pioneers shot 308 over the first 18 holes at The Country Club of Meadville. The final round is Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Carnegie Mellon is the first-round leader with a 300 on what was a tough scoring day on Sunday. After the Tartans, there are six teams between 303 and 308, and Point Park is one of three teams tied for fifth at 308. The Pioneers are the defending champions of the event.
Point Park's Eric Poplowski is tied for sixth individually with a 2-over 74. He trails by two shots the three players who are tied for the individual lead with an even-par 72. Poplowski is a junior from Ambridge, Pa., and a transfer from CCAC-Allegheny.
Point Park had three players shoot 78 with Collin Holmes, James Daley and Kevin Loutsenhizer all tied for 29th at 6-over. Chris Bowen is tied for 40th after an 80. Only 38 of the 93 players in the field broke 80 on the day.
