Goal on penalty kick lifts Geneva past Point Park, 2-1

CHESWICK, Pa. - Geneva beat Point Park, 2-1, in a non-conference men's soccer game Monday after scoring the eventual game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
Point Park (1-14-1) fell behind early on a goal by Geneva's Josh Mann in the ninth minute, and the Golden Tornadoes took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers forged a 1-1 tie less than four minutes into the second half when Julian Trustedt (Berlin, Germany) scored his first goal of the season.
But six minutes later, a Point Park defender was whistled for a foul in the penalty area, and Geneva (13-4) took a 2-1 lead as Gabe Kleinert scored on the ensuing penalty kick.
The Golden Tornadoes held a 15-4 shot advantage in winning their seventh consecutive match.
Point Park goalkeeper Zeke O'Donnell (Butler/Butler) made six saves in 90 minutes of action.
Point Park concludes its season Saturday in a non-conference game versus Wheeling Jesuit at Founders Field. Game time is 4 p.m.
