Wido Sagerer has transferred to Point Park to play men's soccer, and the native of Germany is enrolled in classes for the Spring 2009 semester.
Sagerer (pictured) transferred from Leipzig University of Applied Science, and he is happy to come to Point Park.
"Point Park had everything that I wanted," said Sagerer, a defender who will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2009 season. "I was looking for a school with a civil engineering major, and I also wanted to make sure that I could play soccer."
Sagerer made contact with Point Park men's soccer coach Jeroen Walstra at last summer's International Doorways to Education and Athletics (IDEA) event at Barry University in Miami, Fla.
"I'm glad to be back in Pennsylvania," said Sagerer. "I stayed with a family in Litiz, Pa., for a high school exchange program."
Sagerer graduated from Johannes Kepler High School in Germany in 2005 before completing his one year of public service in his native country. During the 2002-03 school year, he was a member of Warwick High School boys' soccer team in Litiz.
Sagerer, who began playing club soccer in Germany at the age of 10, was formerly a member of the FV Amtsberg and SV Germania Gornau club teams
