GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Point Park University men's soccer team earned its first victory of the season Tuesday in a 2-0 non-conference win over Pitt-Greensburg. Freshman forward Francis Tabi scored both goals for Point Park (1-6).
A native of Kumasi, Ghana, Tabi (pictured above) got the Pioneers on the board early when he notched his first tally less than four minutes into the game. With 20 minutes left in the contest, Tabi gave Point Park a two-goal cushion by scoring his second-career goal.
Anthony Russo (Plum/Plum) and Julian Trustedt (Berlin, Germany) assisted on the first goal, and Miguel Alvarez (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) picked up an assist on the last goal.
Point Park's sophomore goalkeeper Zeke O'Donnell (Butler/Butler) made eight saves to register his first-career shutout. O'Donnell is in his first season as a starter after seeing action in three games last season.
Pitt-Greensburg (1-6-1) held an 18-17 advantage in shots. Goalie C.J. Stangl made three saves.
Point Park visits Malone for an AMC game Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The Pioneers will not practice or play for the next five days because Point Park has closed its campus from Wednesday to Saturday because of the Pittsburgh (G-20) Summit.
