Nov. 10, 2008

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Point Park men's soccer players Steve Fabian and Dustin Hess earned honorable mention All-AMC honors for the 2008 season.

Fabian (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen), a senior goalkeeper, was a four-year starter for the Pioneers and was named honorable mention all-conference for the third time in his career. He was an honorable-mention All-AMC North choice in 2006 and 2007 when the league was divided into two divisions.

Fabian, pictured left, led the AMC in saves and saves per game each of the last two years. This season he posted league highs of 161 saves and 9.47 saves per game. Fabian's saves per game rank third in the NAIA. He made 41 more saves than anyone else in the AMC.

On the year, Fabian recorded three shutouts and yielded one goal or less in nine of his 17 starts. For the week of Oct. 6-12 he was named the AMC men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week after making 30 saves and giving up one goal in two games.

Hess (Munhall/Steel Valley), a senior forward, earned All-AMC honors for the first time in his career after scoring four goals and totaling 11 points. Hess, pictured right, led the Pioneers with 32 shots and three assists. As a junior in 2007, he tied for the team lead with four goals and 11 points.

The All-AMC men's soccer teams are comprised of 11 players each on the conference's first and second teams. The first and second teams each include four forwards, three midfielders, three defenders and one goalkeeper.

Ederson Lopes, a forward from Rio Grande, was named the AMC Player of the Year and Notre Dame's Michael McBride was chosen Coach of the Year. Luke Holmes of Notre Dame was picked Freshman of the Year. Houghton received the Fair Play Team Award.
