Point Park drops season opener at Grove City, 2-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Point Park University lost a non-conference men's soccer match, 2-0, at Grove City Friday.

In the season opener for both teams, Grove City (1-0) took an early lead and extended the margin to 2-0 late in the second half.


Chuck Witt scored the Wolverines' first goal at the 11:53 mark of the first half. Witt scored on a bicycle kick after taking an assist from Daniel Bernal.

Grove City goalie Sean Osborne made five saves in earning the shutout, and Ben Kuniholm's unassisted goal with 21 minutes left sealed the victory for the Wolverines.

Point Park (0-1) had nine shots, and Grove City had 12 shots. Francis Tabi (Kumasi, Ghana) registered four shots for the Pioneers, and teammate Matt Annecchiarico (Woodbridge, Ontario) recorded three shots.

Zeke O'Donnell (Butler/Butler) made four saves in 90 minutes as Point Park's goalkeeper.

Point Park travels to Westminster for a non-conference game Saturday at 11 a.m.
