PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University freshman midfielder Wendelin Hobel has been named the American Mideast Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played Oct. 3-9.
Hobel and the Pioneers (8-2-1, 3-1-1 AMC) only played one game in that span, but Hobel came through in a big way to lead Point Park to an important, conference win.
Hobel, a native of Austria, scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-3 victory at Daemen last Saturday. Hobel's two goals were a part of a flurry of scoring that saw the Pioneers put four tallies on the board in the second half.
Hobel's second-career two-goal game gives him four goals and a team-high seven assists on the year. Hobel has 15 points in all. His seven assists rank first in the conference and 16th in the NAIA.
Point Park visits Houghon Friday (7 p.m.) and Roberts Wesleyan Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
