Point Park to host Houghton for AMC doubleheader at Cupples Stadium Sept. 30

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University men's and women's soccer teams will host Houghton College for an American Mideast Conference doubleheader at Cupples Stadium on Sept. 30, 2011. The women's game is at 10 a.m., and the men's game will follow at 12 p.m.
The Pioneers' usual home facility is Founders Field, located about 20 miles north of Point Park's Downtown Pittsburgh campus. Cupples Stadium offers a much closer venue as it is located just a few miles away at the corner of 9th and Carson streets on the South Side.
Sept. 30 is the first of two doubleheaders that will take place at Cupples Stadium this season. Point Park will host the Roberts Wesleyan College men's and women's soccer teams on Friday, Oct. 28. Game times are 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. that day, as well. Fan Vans for students are planned for that day as in the case Sept. 30.
Cupples Stadium features a field-turf surface and stadium seating. it is the day-to-day practice facility for both Point Park teams as trips to Founders Field are reserved for games.
Admission is free and seating is general admission.
Friday, Sept. 30 is USG T-Shirt Day. Point Park's United Student Government will be on hand to giveway Point Park soccer T-Shirts. There will be T-Shirts given away at each game, but only while supplies last.
Point Park Faculty & Staff are invited to spend their lunch hours for a free cookout lunch on Sept. 30. Free shuttle transportation will be provided as well with looping service to and from campus.
The Point Park men's soccer team is 7-2 overall and 2-1 AMC. The Houghton men's team is 1-7-2, 0-2 AMC but has lost six games by a single goal.
The Point Park women are 4-5 overall and 3-1 AMC. Like the men's team, the Point Park women are riding a four-game winning streak. Houghton women's soccer is ranked #13 in the NAIA and is 8-1 overall, 3-0 AMC.
