PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior forward Lucas Silva had an unbelievable week of scoring to gain KIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for Oct. 13-19. Silva, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, had 10 goals, two assists and 22 points in four games last week to lead No. 22 Point Park (11-2, 3-0 KIAC) to a 4-0 record on the week.
Silva had hat tricks at St. Catharine (Ky.) (Oct. 17) and at Brescia (Ky.) (Oct. 18) to go along with two-goal games versus Penn State-Beaver (Oct. 13) and Washington & Jefferson (Oct. 15). Silva now has 21 goals on the year, which is tied for the most all-time in a single season at Point Park along with Chris Heh in 1998.
Silva has scored 13 goals and 28 points in his last six games. Four of those games have been hat tricks.
Silva has 21 goals, four assists and 46 points this season. The four-year member of the Pioneers is second in the NAIA with 1.6 goals per game and third in the nation with 3.6 points per game. He has nine more goals and 21 more points than anyone else in the KIAC.
In his four years with Point Park, Silva is second in team history with 39 goals, tied for third with 19 assists and second with 97 points. The program records are 50 goals and 111 points by Chris Heh (1996-98) and 26 assists by Tony Barron (1995-98).
Silva and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday at Grove City for a non-conference game. Follow the Pioneers on Twitter @PointParkSports #PPUSOCCER #PPUMS
