SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Point Park University men's soccer team was handed a 2-0, road defeat to NCAA Division II Shippensburg on Saturday. The Pioneers (2-3-1, 0-0 KIAC) continued their difficulty on the road, where they now have an 0-2-1 record on the year.

After a 0-0 score at the half, Shippensburg substitute Jeff Ballard knocked in the eventual game-winner in the 60th minute. Ballard hammered home a rebound after a shot went off the cross bar.

Shippensburg (3-1-1), which won at Point Park, 3-0, in 2010, made it a 2-0 score on Derrick Roy's tally in the 74th minute. The Raiders held an 18-13 advantage in shots and were ahead in that category, 10-5, at halftime.

Clay Sale made three saves for Shippensburg to get the shutout, and it was the first time this year that Point Park was held scoreless.

Point Park has played four NCAA Division II schools among its first six games, and the Pioneers have a record of 1-2-1 in those. The Pioneers continue their non-conference games for the entire month of September with their next opponent being at home to Houghton on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. Admission is free at Highmark Stadium.
