PITTSBURGH -- Francis Tabi and Mitchell Kelman from Point Park University swept the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week awards, the league announced on Monday (Oct. 29).
Tabi is a senior forward from Kumasi, Ghana, and Kelman is a senior goalkeeper from Frederick, Md. The Point Park duo led Point Park (9-6-0, 4-0-0 KIAC) to a 2-0 week in which it outscored its two opponents 2-0.
Offensively, Tabi scored two goals in both games. He started out by putting in both tallys in the Pioneers' 2-0 win over a 10-win Westminster team Oct. 22. He then ended the week with two goals in a 10-0 rout at Fisher (Mass.).
Kelman was in goal for both games and came away with two shutouts. The defensive effort helped Point Park extend its winning streak to three in a row. The Pioneers have won four of their last five games.
Point Park's next game will be in the KIAC Tournament. The Pioneers will be one of the top seeds in the tournament, and the bracket and pairings will be announced this week.
