PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University scored four goals in the second half to put away visiting Wittenberg University, 5-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
Point Park (6-5-1, 1-0-0 KIAC) was holding on to a 1-0 halftime lead over NCAA Division III Wittenberg (4-7-1) but it exploded for a big second half to put the game out of reach.
It was the third win in a row for the Pioneers, who have out scored their opponents 22-1 in their current win streak. That stretch includes a 17-0 mark in the second half.
Freshman Troy Dolanch took a long pass from Jonty Loukes in the fifth minute to give Point Park an early lead with his third goal of the year. Loukes and Ousman Jaiteh each scored two goals in the second half to put the game away.
Point Park held a 23-9 advantage in shots, and goalkeeper Derrick Whiten made seven saves to earn the shutout.
Point Park is off until next Saturday, Oct. 12 for a key conference game versus Asbury (Ky.). The rematch of last year's KIAC Tournament finals kicks off at 12 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
