PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University's Alexander Vaughn was named the KIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for March 16-22 for his performance at the Cal U Early Bird Meet on March 21.

A freshman from Trinity Christian, Vaughn is the top 400-meter performer for the Pioneers. He placed fourth in the 400 at the NCAA Division II Cal U Meet with a time of 50.13 seconds, which was less than a second behind the event winner.

Vaughn also competed in the 200 meters with a time of 23.04 to place 17th overall and third on the team. He was also a part of the 4x400-meter relay team. Point Park was in first place in that relay after his lead-off leg.

Vaughn and the Pioneers competed in the indoor season, but the Cal U Meet was their first-ever outdoor competition in school history. Point Park is in its first year competing in track and field.

Point Park is in action again March 28 at the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat Invitational. Follow the Pioneers on Twitter @PointParkSports
