Point Park Men's Track & Field's inaugural season ends at Allegheny Meet

May 8, 2015

Shaun Berry set a school record in the triple jump at the Allegheny Meet.

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The inaugural season of Point Park University men's track and field came to an end with the final meet of the 2015 outdoor season on Friday at the Allegheny College Invitational.

The Pioneers had two individuals competing in search of NAIA national qualifying standards in their last-chance meet. Jumper Shaun Berry and sprinter DeAnthony Morgan competed.

Berry, a freshman from Shadyside Academy, set a Point Park record in the triple jump with a distance of 14.06 meters. The leap came up short of the NAIA "B" qualifying standard of 14.25 meters by a approximately seven inches. That jump was good for second place. Berry was also third in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters.

Morgan, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio, competed in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He placed 15th in the 100 at 11.36 seconds and 14th in the 200 at 23.24 seconds. He is the school record holder in both events.

Berry and Morgan were some of the top performers for the Pioneers this year. Morgan was named Team MVP and the Ironman of the Year, the latter for never missing a practice. Berry was named the team's Newcomer of the Year. Eric Biggs earned team Most Improved honors.
