JIMMY TAYLOR -- Men's Basketball
Dec. 21, 2011
Jimmy Taylor, a junior guard on the Pioneers' men's basketball team, is this week's Point Park Featured Athlete (Dec. 21, 2011). Taylor is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a graduate of Keystone Oaks High School. He is in his first year with the Pioneers after spending two years at CCAC-Allegheny.
Taylor entered the Point Park program as a proven scorer after earning NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors at CCAC-Allegheny. So far at Point Park he has produced 18.6 points per game, which ranks second on the Point Park team.
Taylor currently leads NAIA Division II in 3-point field goals made per game. His 4.2 treys per game are the most in the nation, and he has been leading that category for much of the year. He is shooting 44 percent overall and 39.8 percent (51 of 128) from 3-point range.
Taylor's scoring is a big reason why Point Park leads the nation in scoring at 93.5 ppg. He has scored at least 14 points in every game, has gone over 20 points four times and had a career-high 28 points vs. Marygrove.
