The NAIA features more than 50,000 student athletes and nearly 300 member institutions in the U.S. and Canada. The NAIA promotes and encourages the highest level of academic standards while at the same time providing athletic scholarships to its athletes. The NAIA program, Champions of Character, is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport while promoting exemplary character traits.

Since 1999, Point Park has been a member of the American Mideast Conference, which is one of the largest NAIA conferences in the country. The AMC, which has 14 members and offers championships in 15 sports, includes schools from Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.
