Grunn, Dill lead Pioneers in season opener at California

BELLE VERNON, Pa. - Dylan Grunn and Lindsay Dill led the Point Park University men's and women's cross country teams, respectively at the California (Pa.) Invitational Saturday.
Grunn, a freshman from Honesdale running his first-career meet, placed 27th in the men's race with a time of 29 minutes, 20 seconds. As a team, Point Park finished sixth of seven teams.
Dill (Erie/McDowell) led the Point Park women's team with a time of 21 minutes, 10 seconds, which was good for 35th place. The Pioneers were ninth of 10 teams in the women's race.
Sarah Austin (Sweet Valley/Lake Lehman) finished in 38th place with a time of 21:41. Point Park's top five runners were rounded out by Carina Jollie (23:26), Leah Bubeck (24:49) and Leticia Henry (25:41).
On the men's side, Reuben Rono (Kapsabet, Kenya) had a time of 30:12 to placed 29th. Other top men's runners included Andrew Witchey (31:14), Jared Ferree (31:25) and Chris Kennedy (32:37).
Both Point Park cross country teams travel to the Penn State-Behrend Invitational Sept. 19.
