PITTSBURGH -- For the second week in a row, Point Park University freshman Katie Guarnaccia, from North Allegheny High School, has been named the KIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Guarnaccia repeated as the conference's weekly award winner thanks to setting a Point Park women's 6K school record at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday. Guarnaccia's time of 23:23 broke the previous 6K school record by more than 30 seconds and earned her 21st place of 171 runners at the NCAA Division II meet.
Guarnaccia has been the Pioneers' top finisher in the last two meets. She came to Point Park after a standout career at North Allegheny in which she was a two-time PIAA meet qualifier.
Point Park is next in action Oct. 11 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Schenley Park.
