Point Park takes 6th at St. Vincent meet, Michael places 14th individually

LATROBE, Pa. -- Justine Michael (pictured) placed 14th individually to lead the Point Park University women's cross country team to a placement of 6th of 12 teams at the St. Vincent Invitational Saturday.

Michael, a sophomore from Gainesville, Fla., and a transfer from Florida Southern, finished the 5K race in 21:01 to take 14th. It was the first time in three meets this year that the Pioneers ran a 5K as their first two events were 6Ks. Michael ran just a few seconds off her career-best time, which as established last year.
Saint Vincent's Ivette Mejia bested the field of 142 runners with a winning time of 18:46. Franciscan won the team compeition with 29 points. Point Park was 6th at 173.
Point Park junior Lindsay Dill, a native of Erie., Pa., placed 26th with a time of 21:40. Fellow junior Sarah Austin of Sweet Valley, Pa. placed 53rd at 22:56.
Senior captain Carina Jollie, a native of Pittsburgh, had a time of 23:20, and junior Martine Saul of Augusta, Ga., finished in 23:35.
Sophomore Leah Bubeck of Moon Twp. had a time of 24:23, and freshman Keri Rouse from Greensburg turned in a time of 24:39.
Other performers for the Pioneers were Leticia Henry (27:56), Becky Lessner (29:14), Carleigh Dettorre (29:20) and Lyndsay Monaco (29:30).
Point Park competes next Saturday at the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational, and the following week, the Pioneers visit the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
