PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University sophomore Kelsey Wilkins, from Pittsburgh, Pa., and Central Valley High School, has repeated as KIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Oct. 13-19.
It is the second week in a row that Wilkins has received the honor. Her latest weekly, conference award comes after racing to a time of 19:37 at the Wilmington (Ohio) College 5K meet on Oct. 17. That time led all KIAC runners at the meet, which had five conference schools in attendance.
Wilkins placed 39th of 413 runners overall, and her time was 33 seconds better than any other KIAC runners not from Point Park. Teammate Katie Guarnaccia ran the race in 19:53.
Wilkins set a Point Park women's 5K team record with a time of 19:31 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Oct. 11 at Schenley Park. Point Park will host the KIAC Championship Meet Nov. 8 at Schenley Park.
The Pioneers are next in action Oct. 25 at the Lock Haven University Go-Fast River Run with the women's 6K starting at 1 p.m.
