Oct. 26, 2013
PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University women's cross country team ended its regular season on Saturday (Oct. 26) by beating Carlow University in a Dual Meet
The Pioneers had season-best times almost across the board in what was their final tune-up before the KIAC Meet in two weeks Nov. 9 at Midway (Ky.) College. There, the Pioneers will look to challenge for a conference title and get team and individual placements in the NAIA national meet.
It was Marissa Buchheit leading Point Park in the Carlow Dual Meet 5K with a time of 20:00. The Pioneers' top runner, Hana Jiraskova, was next with another solid time of 20:13. Jiraskova was the only Point Park runner not to register her best 5K time of the year although she ran a very fast 19:51 at CMU in the previous event.
Point Park had five runners under a 21:32 finish with freshman Ashley Czerniewski-Hagan at 20:24, junior Katie Johnston at 21:03 and junior Lindsey Palmer at 21:32. Keri Rouse (22:25), Bryn McClay (23:49) and Becky Lessner (25:08) rounded out the team performance.
