QUICK FACTS, ROSTER, SCHEDULE

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women’s cross country will have some holes to fill for the 2011 season, but the cupboard is not bare by any means. Although the Pioneers need to replace three of their top five runners from 2010, they have returning runners and newcomers ready to take their place. Last year was one of the top seasons the Pioneers have ever had so the bar was set by the 2010 squad.

Among those departed is Justine Michael, who set a Point Park 5K record (20:04) in her only year with the Pioneers. Also gone are Sarah Austin and Carina Jollie, a couple of the top runners that last few seasons.

Lindsay Dill is the top returning runner and has the most experience. She has been among the top 1 or 2 performers on the team for her whole career. Dill’s best 5K last year was 21:33 at the AMC meet, and she will try to cap off her career on a high note.

The No.2 runner returning according to times is sophomore Keri Rouse, who got her 5K time down to 22:48 by the end of her freshman year. Not far behind is senior Martine Saul, whose strong year of 2010 had her register a 22:59 (5K) late in the season. Leah Bubeck is an upperclassmen who was right around the team’s top-5 finishers in last year’s meets. Her, along with other returners Becky Lessner and Carleigh Dettorre, will be counted on to move up the team’s order of finish to make up for the departures.

The newcomers include Ashley Goodsell, who displayed a great endurance ability as a starter on the Point Park women’s soccer team the last two years. Katie Johnston, a freshman, qualified for districts four times in high school. Other freshmen are Allyssa Kijewski, Lindsey Palmer and Alexandria Wingrove.
