PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University women's cross country and track and field will welcome Brownsville Area High School state qualifier Kara Rohlf as a freshman for the upcoming 2015-16 school year.
Rohlf was a four-year runner for Brownsville, and she capped off her career by qualifying for the PIAA state meet during her senior season of cross country in the fall of 2014.
"Kara Rohlf will be a nice addition to the cross country and track and field teams," said Kelly Parsley, the Pioneers' head coach in both sports. "Kara was a state qualifier this past fall, and I am expecting her to vie for an all-conference spot for us."
Rohlf ran a 5K time of 21:52 at the WPIAL Class AA Cross Country Championships this past year to qualify for states. Her personal-best time in cross country was 21:32, which came during a fifth-place showing at the Tri-State Coaches' Association Meet in 2014.
In track and field, Rohlf ran the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races. Her best time of 6:02 in the 1,600 came at the WPIAL Class AA Sectional Qualifier to place 11th. Rohlf's best high school time in the 3,200 was 13:20.
Rohlf is the younger sister of former Point Park men's cross country runner John Rohlf, who was one of the Pioneers' top runners from 2010-13.
