Point Park women's cross country team competes in Unaffiliated Meet in St. Louis

Nov. 5, 2011

Rouse 11ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Point Park University women's cross country team competed Saturday in the Unaffiliated Group Meet in St. Louis, and the Pioneers finished 8th of 8 teams. It was the last meet of the season, and it became necessary as a result of Point Park's conference, the American Mideast Conference, falling short of the required six teams needed for an automatic bid to the NAIA national championship.

AMC member Roberts Wesleyan won the team title and advances to the NAIA Meet Nov. 19 in Vancouver, Wash. The Raiders bested a field of eight teams that included four from the American Mideast Conference and four from the TransSouth Conference, the latter of which also fell short of having an automatic invite.

Keri Rouse (pictured) completed the 5K race is 22:33 to become Point Park's top finisher. Katie Johnston was next at 22:47. Those two placed 41st and 42nd in the field of 64 runners. Three of Point Park's top four performers at the conference meet were freshmen, which included Johnston, Christina Wisniewski (23:14), Lindsey Palmer (23:59). Rouse is a sophomore.
