Point Park Women's XC takes third at Bethany, Guarnaccia wins individual title

BETHANY, W.Va. -- Point Park University women's cross country took a high finish of third place of 17 teams at the Bethany (W.Va.) Invitational on Saturday led by individual champion Katie Guarnaccia, who set a Point Park women's 6K record with a time of 22:56.
Guarnaccia, a sophomore from North Allegheny High School, cruised to the individual title by 49 seconds over the rest of the field. It was the second high finish in a row for her as she was coming off a fifth-place showing at the Duquesne Duals last weekend.
Point Park had two runners in the Top 10 with Emily Maxwell registering eighth place with a time of 24:42. Next for the Pioneers was Madison Przicina in 21st place at 25:42 followed by Kara Rohlf in 29th place at 26:18. Point Park's top five was rounded out by Kelsey Wilkins placing 32nd with a time of 26:48.
Point Park had 91 points in the team standings, which was behind only team champion West Virginia Wesleyan (36 points) and Waynesburg (57). Both of those teams are ranked within their respective regional rankings.
