Point Park wins twice on Day 1 of Fairmont State Falcon Fest with pair of sweeps

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Point Park University made quick work of its two matches on Day 1 of the Fairmont State Falcon Fest on Friday and came away with 3-0 sweeps over West Liberty and Pitt-Johnstown.
Point Park (6-1) played two close sets with West Liberty, but still took the match, 25-23, 25-11, 25-22. Then the Pioneers cruised to victory over Pitt-Johnstown, 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.
Point Park concludes the two-day event with two matches Saturday. The Pioneers meet West Virginia Wesleyan at 9 a.m. and Davis & Elkins at 1:30 p.m.
Versus West Liberty, junior outside hitter Lindsey Oberacker totaled 15 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Chelsea Katkich put up 10 kills from the other outside spot while Nicole Wurstle posted eight blocks from the middle.
Brittany Lhota contributed five kills, three aces and three blocks from the middle hitter spot. Ashley Campbell added nine kills. Tayler Pugliese handed out 41 assists. Defensively, Alyssa Hall had 20 digs.
Wurstle tallied 10 kills and four blocks in the win over UPJ. Oberacker had nine kills, 16 digs and three aces, and Katkich record seven digs and four blocks. Pugliese had another 34 assists.
