Point Park keeps offense going, picks up two more KIAC victories on trip

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University volleyball team kept its offense in high gear and picked up two more KIAC victories on its weekend trip with 3-0 sweeps over Brescia (Ky.) and Berea (Ky.) on Friday night. Both matches were played at Berea (Ky.).
Point Park (8-9, 4-2 KIAC) has won three in a row to start its weekend road trip, which continues Saturday with three matches at the Asbury (Ky.) University Quad Match. There the Pioneers will see host Asbury (Ky.) as well as St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Alice Lloyd (Ky.) for KIAC matches.
The Pioneers had their best offensive match Thursday night in their victory at Cincinnati Christian. On Friday, they turned the offense up even more lighting up the scoreboard with a .462 hitting percentage versus Brescia and .365 versus Berea.
The win over Brescia came by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-13. The Pioneers downed Berea, 25-13, 25-7, 25-16.
Point Park was very efficient and spread the wealth around to nine different players with kills versus Brescia and eight versus Berea. Senior right-side hitter Nicole Wurstle hit an outstanding .812 versus Brescia with 14 kills and just one error in 16 attempts. She followed that up with nine kills and a .538 percentage versus Berea.
Setter Cara Bradley got in on the offense with not only 27 assists versus Brescia, but also five kills in eight attempts, five digs and two blocks. Roxanne Grundmeier had six kills and zero errors in 10 swings for a .600 percentage. Nikki Inquartano added seven kills in 11 attempts.
Wurstle, Grundmeier and Cristiane Chaves were very good versus Berea with a combined 23 kills and just three errors. Chaves put up seven kills and five blocks, while Grundmeier had seven kills and once again zero errors. Shiloh Simonson added seven kills, six digs and three aces. Bradley had another all-around match with 30 assists, six digs, two blocks and two aces.
