June 11, 2009

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park’s volleyball recruiting class has reached eight players with the addition of Chelsea Johnson and Amanda Wenger. Fifth-year coach Mike Bruno will welcome both players as freshmen in the fall.

Johnson (at left) is 5-7 right-side hitter/defensive specialist from Pittsburgh. She is a graduate of Carrick High School and is an all-city performer who plays club ball for Pittsburgh Three Rivers.

Wenger is an outside hitter from Warren, Pa., and the Warren High School graduate was named to the District 10, Region 4 first team. The 5-8 Wenger was third-team All-District 10-AA selection by the PVCA.

Bruno’s recruiting class includes three all-state players and is made up of four outside hitters, two setters and two defensive specialists. The Pioneers were 19-18 last year and lost six seniors to graduation.
