Point Park erases two-set deficit to rally past Pitt-Johnstown, 3-2

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Point Park University erased a two-set deficit and rallied past Pitt-Johnstown, 3-2, in a non-conference volleyball match Thursday night.
The Pioneers (15-5 overall, 2-0 AMC) dropped the first two sets but came back to win the match, 22-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-8, 15-9. Box Score
Pitt-Johnstown's record dropped to 5-7 overall with the loss and fell to Point Park for the second time this year. Point Park beat the Mountain Cats, 3-1, during its Pioneer Invitational earlier this month.
Point Park sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Oberacker, a native of Erie, Pa., led the comeback with 19 kills and also added four blocks.
Senior middle hitter Ashley Zietak (Pittsburgh/Brashear) added 14 kills. Setter Katie Geary (Pittsburgh/Shaler) recorded 49 assists.
Nicole Wurstle (Valley City, OH/Buckeye) chipped in five kills and six blocks, and fellow freshman Chelsea Katkich (Imperial/West Allegheny) posted seven kills and six digs. Rachel Roddy (Greensburg/Greensburg Salem) contributed six kills, and five aces.
Defensively, Margaret Gillooly (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) led the way with 20 digs, and Amanda Ardinger (Moon Twp./Moon Area) had 17 digs.
With the win, Point Park evened its road record to 4-4. The Pioneers are 11-1 every where else as they are 4-0 at home and 7-1 at neutral sites.
The Pioneers visit Shepherd on Saturday for a tri-match involving West Liberty. Point Park's matches are at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
