PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University volleyball team remained at No. 31 overall and in the 'others receiving votes' section of the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released by the national office on Sept. 25. The Pioneers (14-3, 4-1 KIAC) have been in the 'others receiving votes' section of every NAIA Top 25 Poll since the start of last season.
Point Park's current placement six spots outside the national rankings is tied for the highest they've ever been with last week's poll and also the final poll of the 2011 season when they were 36-6 and fresh off an appearance in the national tournament.
Point Park ranks 16th in the NAIA in winning percentage at .824. The Pioneers have a very strong front line that ranks 10th in the NAIA in with 2.61 blocks per set and 12th in the country with a hitting percentage of .271 as a team.
Two of Point Park's losses have come to NAIA No. 17 Madonna (Mich.) (16-4) and No. 18 Indiana East (18-0, 4-0 KIAC). The third loss was to a very talented and underrated Northwestern Ohio (20-1) team that is receiving votes nationally.
