PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Point Park University volleyball team won its second consecutive conference match Friday defeating Indiana University Southeast, 3-0, on the first day of the Point Park-Carlow Battle of the Boulevard crossover weekend.
The Pioneers won the match,25-20, 25-15, 25-12, to improve to 4-6 overall record and 2-0 in the KIAC.
"We had a difficult start with four losses last weekend, so this win helps a lot, gives us confidence and trust in each other," libero Tabea Dalliard said.
Point Park had 35 kills and nine errors for the match, a .263 total attack percentage.
Shiloh Simonson led the Pioneers with eight kills and 10 digs while Dalliard had 18 digs. Setter Emily Meng had 26 assists. Roxanne Grundmeier came up with seven kills and three blocks, and Ashley Taylor totaled five kills, zero errors and three blocks. Katie Baynum chipped in four kills and three blocks.
Dalliard was a big factor in game two as the Grenadiers (1-2, 0-1 KIAC) were leading in the early stages. Dalliard refused to let anything touch the floor and the Pioneers took control of the game.
"By saving all the balls I can, it's a way I can help the team," said Dalliard. "
In game three, Point Park had 10 kills and one error for an attacking percentage of .375. That came one set after putting up a .344 attack percentage in the second set with 13 kills versus only two errors.
