PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University volleyball notched its first KIAC win of the year, 3-0, over visiting Carlow on Wednesday night in the Student Center Gym and started a key stretch of matches with a victory.

The Pioneers will now look to keep the momentum going as conference play continues this weekend with a trip to IU Southeast on Friday night (7 p.m.) and a visit to the Cincinnati Christian tri-match on Saturday to play host CCU (10 a.m.) and Brescia (Ky.) (12 p.m.).

Point Park had a balanced attack on Wednesday with Megan Branchick putting up a team-high eight kills alongside seven each from Isabella Vavrek and Shiloh Simonson, six from Cristiane Chaves and four from Nikki Inquartano. Branchick highlighted the night with her eight kills coming on 22 attempts with no errors for a .364 attack percentage.

The Pioneers enjoyed a comfortable separation in the second set for the 25-17 win. Point Park was able to get the key points late in the third set, including an ace by Simonson for the match point, 25-21.
