Profile: Henderson’s senior season will be her third year in the Point Park women’s basketball program. She has started all 52 games the last two seasons after beginning her career at NCAA Division I Pittsburgh and Canisius. Her career averages at Point Park include 14.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and 41% shooting from the field. She has positioned herself as one of the top guards in the AMC as her size and athleticism create mismatches for the opposition. A two-time all-conference selection and the AMC Newcomer of the Year in 2008-09, Henderson has the potential to progress her game even further in her final season of college basketball. She has 743 career points, which leaves her 257 shy of 1,000 for her career.
2009-10: Henderson started all 27 games and averaged 13.1 points per game. Her rebounding average of 4.9 is tops among returning players this season. She reached double figures in scoring 18 times including 12 of the last 15 games. After a slow start to the season, she was averaging 9.8 ppg at the end of the first semester, but she averaged 16.3 ppg the last 15 games. Her career scoring high of 29 points vs. Daemen also included six assists and five rebounds. Henderson had 28 points, nine rebounds and five steals on 10 of 13 shooting vs. Ursuline. Her first-career double-double included 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds vs. Cedarville. Henderson averaged 32 minutes per game.
2008-09: Henderson was named the AMC Newcomer of the Year with averages of 15.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 2008-09. She was also selected to the All-AMC first team. She was fifth in the AMC in scoring and second in free-throw percentage at 84 percent. Henderson scored in double figures in 21 of 25 games and totaled 20 or more points eight times. Her season high of 28 came at Cedarville (Nov. 14).
2007-08: Started her collegiate career at Pitt and scored three points in six games as a freshman…transferred to Canisius in the spring semester, but did not play in any games.
High school: A 2007 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School…scored 1,725 points and is the school’s all-time leading scorer…named first-team All-PIAA as a senior…was a three-time WPIAL all-section player…she was a two-time Tribune Review Player of the Year and the PG East Female Athlete of the Year as a junior…selected to the Post-Gazette’s Fab Five in 2006-07…the recruiting publication Blue Star Basketball rated her the 167th prospect in the country and she was rated the 39th shooting guard in the nation by All-Star Girls Report.
