June 30, 2009
PITTSBURGH - Steel Valley product Brittany Dunmire will continue her athletic and educational career at Point Park, where she will be a member of the Pioneers' women's basketball team beginning in the fall.
Dunmire is a 5-6 shooting guard who has started for Steel Valley High School the last two years. She was a WPIAL all-section choice as a junior in 2007-08 when she averaged 13.7 points per game.
"Brittany is an outstanding student athlete," said women's basketball coach Sam Kosanovich. "She is a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, which is the highest academic award at Point Park, and we are very happy to have her.
"Brittany has a great work ethic, and she was a starting player in a very competitive section. And she comes from a good basketball background."
Dunmire is the daughter of former Steel Valley High School boys' basketball coach Rick Dunmire. From 1994-97, Kosanovich was the head boys' basketball coach at South Park High School, where he coached against Dunmire in WPIAL section games.
Kosanovich is in his fourth year as the Point Park women's basketball coach.
