Beatty named AMC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 16-22

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior guard/foward Kristen Beatty was selected the American Mideast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office Monday. Beatty was recognized for leading Point Park (14-4, 5-0 AMC) to a 2-0 performance the week of Jan. 16-22.
The 5-7 product of Pittsburgh, Pa., and North Allegheny High School averaged 16.0 points and 6.5 rebounds last week to help the Pioneers stay unbeaten in conference play and extend their current win streak to a school-record nine games.
Beatty's week started with a career-high 20 points to go with eight rebounds in a 65-50, home win over Houghton Jan. 17. She followed that up with a solid 12 points and five rebounds in an important road win, 57-39, at Roberts Wesleyan Jan. 21. The win gave the Pioneers the school record for consecutive victories.
For the week, Beatty shot 52 percent from the field (13 of 25) and averaged 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. On the year, Beatty is third on the team at 8.7 ppg and second on the Pioneers at 4.7 rpg.
Point Park, which was in the 'others receiving votes' section of the NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll on Jan. 23, has two home games this week. The Pioneers host Carlow (8-8, 2-4 AMC) on Tuesday (7 p.m.) before welcoming No. 19 Daemen (16-4, 7-0 AMC) for a showdown of AMC unbeaten teams.
