WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- No. 1 seed Point Park (22-6, 11-4 KIAC) hosts cross-town rival No.8 seed Carlow (14-14, 5-10 KIAC) in the quarterfinal round of the KIAC Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at CCAC-South Gym.

Point Park won both regular-season meetings, 69-52 at home Jan. 22 and 57-48 on the road Feb. 15. The Pioneers have beaten Carlow 10 straight times and are 17-8 versus the Celtics since 1999-00. The Point Park-Carlow winner will advance to the KIAC Tournament final four Feb. 25-26 at IU Southeast.

It'll be a matchup of the top two defensive teams in the KIAC for the right to move on to the semifinals. Point Park leads the KIAC in scoring defense (56.4 ppg), rebounding (42.6 ppg) and field-goal percentage defense (.360). Carlow is right behind the Pioneers in all three categories.

Forward Ja'Nia McPhatter leads four Point Park players in double figures with 15.0 ppg and a team-high 8.9 rpg. Guard Emily Schartner (12.3 ppg) leads the Pioneers with 56 made 3-pointers, and point guard April Austin averages 10.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 4.3 apg and 2.2 spg.

Guard Chanel Berry is not a starter but leads Carlow in scoring at 11.9 ppg. She had 21 in the home loss to the Pioneers Feb. 15. Guard Jessalyn Timko (10.1 ppg) was injured in the Feb. 15 games leaving the only other double-digit scorer, freshman Lynzi Mueller (10.5 ppg) as the likely replacement in the starting lineup.

The winner of the KIAC Tournament will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Championship, a 32-team tournament March 6-12 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Fan Vans will be available for Point Park students are are free with PPU student ID. Fan Vans leave the Student Center Lot at 12:45 & 1:30 p.m. with return service after the game.
